IMPORTANT MESSAGE ABOUT CARPETING YOUR BOOTH

Hello,

It has come to my attention that there is no order page for carpet in the GES Exhibitor Kit for the upcoming Learning Annex Expo in Toronto.

At most shows, if exhibitors don't order carpet, they are left standing on concrete which is hard on the feet and back and it does not look very pretty.

At this show, the exhibit hall is going to be located in area that is already carpeted. (See photo below.)

If you still want to order carpet, however, GES has given us a number to call to place that order, and they said they will extend the early bird pricing for the carpet.

To order additional carpeting, please call Rahda Seemungal at 1-905-283-0517.

Here is a photo of the carpet (from a different show at the Metro Convention Center)

TIPS

Dress:

No matter how warm the locale, our shows always seem to feel very cold. Bring under and over layers of clothing so that you can stay comfortable.  Also wear comfortable shoes--standing for hours can really take its toll!

Booths:

Tables/Chairs: If you are going to have a table at the front of your booth, I highly recommend bar height tables (skirted) or bar-height cafe tables with bar-stools.  This allows you to rest and still be at eye-level with visitors (and not look "out-to-lunch").  If you use the cafe tables, get an extra chair to give your visitors a chance to rest while they are chatting with you, but be sure then to have a skirted table for the back of your booth to store materials on and under.

Carpet: If you don't need a special color to coordinate with your booth, choose red, the same color as the aisles. This gives a more open and welcoming feel to the space. Some exhibitors pay extra for under-padding. It helps take the pressure off the legs and feet.

PROMOTION:

Raffles: I always recommend that exhibitors find ways to collect names and addresses.  Unless you need to seriously qualify your prospects, I highly recommend a raffle bowl and raffle something that everyone might want. I have seen successful raffles with such items as ipods, gift certificates to Office or Home Depot or television sets. While those filling out your raffle forms may not be interested now in your product or services, they may sometime down the road, or they may know someone who is.  If you do a raffle, be sure to advertise it prominently, so that it serves the purpose of drawing visitors to your booth. And, let them know how you are going to notify them if they win. If email addresses are important to you, notify them by email, for instance. That will better insure that you receive accurate contact information. Some exhibitors have forms made up that visitors fill out while others just use rolodex cards.

Event Bags: At this time, the expo does not have an event bag. You could have one done up with your company logo and website on the outside, and pre-load it with literature. Or you could just hand out plain bags and drop the literature in when they take it from you.  Visitors are pleased to have something to carry their literature in, and you give them a reason to stop by your booth.

Flyers: If there is more than one of you manning the booth and traffic gets busy, one could just be handing flyers to passersby while the other one speaks to those who stop with questions. It is hard to say how many flyers you will need. I have had some people tell me they have gone through 4000 and others only 400. Each show is a different as well. If you don't mind the extra weight, better to err on the abundant side. Once there, to have copies done can be prohibitively expensive but you don't want to waste the opportunity either.  Also, if all you have is expensive company literature, you may want to invest in inexpensive one-page flyers.

)The Toronto show is scheduled as a 1 day show. This will be a full day event -
from 8am until 7pm on Saturday March 29th. Booths are 10 X 10 feet and
cost US$3995.00 plus Canadian GST. (See below for another exhibiting opportunity).

2) We will also have a preview event on Friday, March 28th. The hall will be
busy from about 9am to 4pm on Friday.

3) You can set up any time on Friday - - so you can also take advantage of
the Friday preview crowd if you set up early. There is no extra charge for this.

4)The exhibits will be set up in the lobby in front of the main hall - -
so you can expect plenty of traffic all day Saturday.

5)There is a new opportunity being offered as follows:

At the Toronto Expo we will have a "Wall of Distinctive Properties".
This wall is made of a series of 4' x 9' gray wall boards which are both
"velcro and tack friendly". Exhibitors of developments can purchase these
36 sq. ft. areas for photos and promotions of their properties for $1800.

Exhibitors do not have to be present at the Expo - - we will set it up for
them if they give us advance notice and materials are "ready to post" - -
i.e. with velcro attached etc. Or - - the exhibitor can rent a stool and
small literature table from the decorator and work their area of the wall.

Floor Plans are not yet available.

The MTCC is most easily accessible by using public transit. The TTC 504 King streetcar stops at King and John Streets, just one block from the front of the convention centre. Also, both the St. Andrew and Union TTC subway stations are within a short walking distance of the centre.

For more detailed information on taking the TTC, please visit their website at www.ttc.ca.

If you are coming in from another nearby city in Ontario, you can likely use GO Transit to take a train or bus to Union Station, which is a short walk from the convention centre. Please visit their website at www.gotransit.com for full fare and schedule information.
